For those of you who didn’t show up today to challenge Arne Duncan, Governor Lynch and others who are working to nationalize education using outside NGOs, we say, if you don’t do something about this then you cannot complain.
One of the most destructive elements in our society today is the way public education is being used to brainwash our children against capitalism and the Constitution using revisionist history and programs created by people with an anti-American agenda. We’ve written reams about this from our education researchers, and some NH schools are even under the control of the UN already.
Our ‘man on the street’ filed this report.
Duncan sat down with Mayor Gatsas, Virginia Barry (NH Commission of Ed) the Superintendent of Manchester Schools, several teachers and a couple of parents. He wanted to know why the scores in this school were going up 4 years in a row which right away made this into a love fest.
No one challenged him on nationalizing standards. No one challenged him on anything. No one said that there was too much federal involvement in the classrooms.
After the meeting this reporter went up to Mayor Gatsas, introduced myself then questioned WHY no one challenged him on nationalizing education. Why is it that Canada, with NO involvement in education, is outperforming our students with LESS money? I then had a short but frank discussion with Mayor Gatsas about all of this.
I then worked my way to Secretary Duncan. I asked him how he reconciled Mass. and CA lowering their standards in return for the money He did admit that Mass. and CA lowered their standards. I then asked him how he reconciled the Canadian situation and that the top performing countries didn’t have nationalized education but in fact some of them had true school choice. His argument was that the states had set poor academic standards. Well, that is true for NH. Under Lynch we have pretty poor academic standards. He brought up the Fordham review and I said I had read it and that Chester Finn sold out!! He said, is that what you think? I said right now that’s what a lot of people think and I wouldn’t be surprised if Finn at some point backtracks on his approval.
He was shuffled along and then I took the opportunity to talk to a Manchester School Board member. We talked about Everyday Math in the Manchester schools and I told him that’s a ticket to failure for the Manchester kids. He said they looked to experts when looking at that program. I said, well then you looked to the wrong ones and that I could give him real experts that will give him the real truth!
Everyday Math is considered a fad program and is the cause of many math failures. Many schools have wisely dumped it. It relies in great part on ‘constructivism’.
And thus, the Nationalization of Education continues. If you are not concerned about this, then you are not fully invested in the freedom movement.
