Jack Kimball Responds to the Press

Dear Friends,

You and I both know that I am not a three-eyed monster, but if you listened to everything said about me over the past few days you might think otherwise.

Campaigns are always rife with emotion and rhetoric. I have heard some of the outlandish claims made against me as well as many of the rumors that are swirling around. I suppose that, even though it is disappointing, it is to be expected.

Just to help keep things straight, I have compiled this Fact Check for you.

RUMOR: Jack Kimball would institute a “litmus test” for Presidential candidates.

FACT: Of course not. For starters, it is simply not possible. What’s more, it is NOT the job of the Party Chair to hand pick candidates for office or to try to clear the way for “preferred” candidates at any level. The democratic process belongs to the people and as Party Chair I will protect the integrity of that process.

When asked about a “litmus test” by an online political blog, I was not clear enough or specific enough in my answer. While I will enthusiastically and proudly promote the Party Platform and share the story of the 2010 conservative successes in NH with every candidate that comes through my office, any “litmus test” I may have in regard to candidates applies only to my own vote.

RUMOR: Jack Kimball will pay himself a salary if he becomes chairman.

FACT: Again, of course not. It is stated clearly in our party by-laws that our chairman will not receive a salary. I have been a small business owner for over 25 years and I am lucky enough to have experienced enough success that I am able to now dedicate my time to other, more important efforts.

RUMOR: Jack Kimball is “trashing” John Stephen and is only running for Chairman to set himself up to run for Governor.

FACT: More rubbish. I spent the entire 2010 general election campaigning for John Stephen and would do so again in a heartbeat. What’s more, I have repeatedly and publicly stated that I will absolutely NOT run for office in 2012. Absolutely not. Period.

RUMOR: Jack Kimball won’t work with others.

FACT: I built my statewide campaign for Governor on the united efforts of thousands of Granite Staters.I am proud that long-time GOP activists, new Republicans and Liberty Republicans all came together to send a loud message to John Lynch that we will not allow him to destroy our state. I have a proven record of working with others, uniting many different efforts under one umbrella and I have already begun to put together a strong team of fundraisers who are ready to hit the ground running should I win this seat.

RUMOR: Jack Kimball has offered a job at the State Committee to a conservative blogger.

FACT: This is one is simply a lie.

One of the craziest rumors out there is that our current Chairman has asked folks in Washington DC to call committee members to encourage them to vote for the candidate the Chairman has endorsed. It seems so wildly inappropriate that it couldn’t possibly be true.

In the meantime, you may in fact receive a call from me or one of the team of New Hampshire activists who have been helping me try to spread my message of party unity and strength.

Friends, it is very important to me to earn your vote. Please do not hesitate to call me at any time at 235-2862, or visit me online at http://www.JackForNHGOPChair.com
