NH Campaign Bloopers and Lies
As a group, NHTPC does not involve itself in campaigns in any way.
The authentic tea party receives no funding from anyone and therefore gives no money to anyone, nor does it make endorsements.
Each person who considers himself or herself a tea partier does as he or she wishes with regard to campaigning and working for candidates.
But we just could not help watch the petty attacks and campaign bloopers made this past month by several Democrats…
Let’s put some of their statements to the ‘truth-o-meter’…
Maggie Hassan (D) Candidate for Governor
Hassan claims she took the anti-broadbased tax pledge (CNHT) but does not support Question 1 to permanently ban such a tax via our NH Constitution. Unfortunately, we say “pants on fire” since there is no record on CNHT’s website of Hassan ever having registered her Pledge.
Watch what they do, not what they say, we guess, is the rule to follow here.
Lee Nyquist (D) Candidate for Senate 7
Nyquist made a string of bloopers last month.
First, Nyquist accused his opponent, Andy Sanborn (R), of being ‘endorsed’ by the tea party. Since the tea party is a movement and does not fund or endorse candidates, his statement is of course false. Further, he claims Sanborn received money from a ‘tea party’ in Va… Once again, tea parties do not collect money or donate to candidates. The group in Va is likely a Republican PAC, not a tea party. Need we remind Nyquist of the millions of dollars of out-of-state money funneled to the current Governor and other Democratic candidates in the past?
Second, he sent a letter to his lawyer friends saying that if elected, he’ll use his position as senator to help “our clients and our future clients.” It should be obvious why this is wrong and unethical. Maybe he should return those campaign contributions from all those trial lawyers?
Also noted, he posted an ad on Facebook that claims he supports NH values, not tea party values. Since the tea party supports the NH Constitution, fiscal sanity and prudence, and the preservation of personal freedoms, we can only assume that means Nyquist doesn’t support NH Constitution, fiscal sanity and prudence, and the preservation of personal freedoms, all of which are NH values.
So, what DOES Nyquist support?
