Opting Out of Common Core

There is a bill to opt NH out of anything to do with “Common Core” and NHTPC supports it.

HB 1508 is AN ACT terminating state participation in the common core educational standards.

The House Ed Comm has an exec session (VOTE) on HB 1508 on Tues March 4th at 1:00 PM in LOB 207. The public is not allowed to speak, but may observe and hear the dialog. If people still want to sway the committee, they must call or email them prior to March 4th. The committee’s group email is

HouseEducationCommittee@leg.state.nh.us

NOT ONE PARENT testified AGAINST HB 1508 however we had MANY parents come out to SUPPORT HB 1508. They also received a petition with over 600 signatures opposing Common Core in our schools.

This vote will establish whether the Committee will support PARENTS in NH or NOT.

It is also important to note that the New Hampshire School Administrators (lobbying group) came out AGAINST HB 1508. This lobbying group is paid through dues from YOUR school budget. That means YOU are paying for a lobbying org. that speaks in opposition to YOU.

Some schools have terminated their relationship with this organization but it would help if parents in each community demand that the Administrators pay for their own lobbyists.
