It appears that citizen efforts to help Educate the Selectmen in Salem have paid off. Last night, Salem officials voted to PULL OUT of the Granite State Future program — deciding that course of action was in the best interests of their town.
“This is an important milestone in our battle to educate our elected officials. Up until now, we have spoken to towns PRIOR to deciding whether or not to participate in the program — but with Salem, they were already signed up. Our goal was to ask them to listen to our message, and to reconsider. They did, and came to the same conclusions about the program as we have” said a member of the task force assigned to investigate these programs.
“Selectman Stephen Campbell said that he does not subscribe to the philosophies of the group nor does he believe that Salem’s voice will be heard if the town was a member.
He said that Granite State Future’s outcomes are pre-determined by their philosophies.
You don’t have to believe in conspiracies to disagree with the philosophy behind this,” Campbell said. “They appeared to not be impressed with private property rights or private water rights and they want to do all of this collectively.”
