Recommended Reading: Federal, State Constitutions

It is time that America reads our constitutions, both federal and state. The ignorance of our citizenry regarding these documents is destroying the foundation of America. I say this because if we do not know what our rights are we will not know when they are being infringed. So how do we defend something we do not know exists or how do we know when that right is lost?

The mindset that our government grants Americans their rights is wrongheaded and ignorant, even though most Americans believe this to be true. Our Founding Fathers recognized inalienable rights are granted by God not man. We also must recognize our Constitution is the basis for all of America’s laws. This makes all laws out of harmony with our Constitution by definition illegal.

The reality is we now have a lawless government and for this reason alone we have a 2nd Amendment. The following are a few examples of lawlessness practiced by our government.

– Releasing criminals that have entered America illegally back into society after being apprehended.

– Not putting in place a federal budget for more than 4 years.

– The Patriot Act which completely undermines the following Amendments: 1st, 4th, 5th, 8th and the 9th Amendments. If you don’t know what these Amendments relate to you need to educate yourself and get a Constitution.

– The congressional “super committee”, Article I sect 7, “All Bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives …”

– Using the weight of the federal government to restrict a state’s obligation to defend and protect its citizens.

– Putting into effect or supporting any policy that is contrary to a “republican (small r) form of government” which is guaranteed Article 4 Sect. 4.

The reality is the 2nd Amendment spells out a few protections one of which is a well regulated militia and the other is that “the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” Limiting our access to ammunition, magazines, semi automatic rifles etc. is an infringement on our right to bear arms. If those that are afraid to have America’s citizens armed they must change the Constitution through the Amendment process as required by that document they took an oath to uphold. A change to the 2nd Amendment can only be done after an Amendment modifying the 2nd Amendment is passed after the standards of Article 5 are met. This takes 2/3rds of both Houses of Congress to deem it necessary to propose an Amendment and upon Application of 2/3rds of the States calling for a Constitutional Convention to propose said Amendments.

Our Constitution was made to be changed under thoughtful consideration not through used car salesman tactics supported by a media that is nothing more than the propaganda ministry for a lawless government. I for one still honor the oath I was required to take upon entering the Marine Corps to, “defend our Constitution from all enemies…”. I fear many of those that take that same oath either have not read the Constitution or are of such low integrity they do not honor it, either way they are breaking faith with America and their sworn duty making them lawless. Our Constitution is the law defending our freedom as citizens, if it is not honored by our government we are already living in tyranny.
