You remember the Manchester Union Leader? It used to be NH’s revered and only conservative newspaper. Sadly over time, it has gone over a huge cliff into the dark hole of irrelevance. As one indicator, witness the UL’s bizarre partnership with the very left-leaning Politico… And now this disastrous bit of criticism of those petitioning for redress of grievances.
The above-linked editorial about our efforts to depose 189 NH lawmakers for violating their oath with regard to HB 135 and other issues, was unsigned, as often these critiques… But why such cowardice?
As Jack Kimball noted in GSPLPAC’s last missive, maybe this is why: “The UL has now staked its claim and it is NOT with those of us who believe in our Republic or our Constitution. The battle lines are drawn quite clearly. In fact, this editorial could have been written by Ray Buckley, the Chairman of the Democratic Party.”
Lately for the UL, facts are hard to come by, as we saw with a past unsigned doozie of an article on International Baccalaureate. In case you don’t remember, that disastrous piece had so many errors, that in an apparent fit of embarrassment, the anonymous cowards who wrote it decided to erase all corrections that readers so kindly posted beneath. Hey UL, nothing like doing a bit of research before you ridicule others, no?
But let’s get back to their trashing of Jack Kimball, Hon. Dan Itse, and Hon. John Hikel, and indeed the whole tea party, for efforts to actually DO something about our elected officials and their disregard for our rights, be they second amendment or otherwise.
NHTPC sent a letter to each of the 10 county sheriffs in NH asking them if they would uphold their oaths to defend the constitution, and specifically, defend our second amendment rights by not enforcing any unconstitutional gun laws, or participating in any unconstitutional gun confiscations. The result was that only TWO of NH’s county sheriffs (from Grafton and Coos) returned positive statements. The other 8, in utter disregard for the citizens they took an oath to protect, never even responded!
This is unacceptable. It is even more unacceptable than in these hard economic times, the legislature has, instead of concentrating on how to make NH more business-friendly and economically sound, they have turned their attention to chipping away at as many rights and freedoms they can think of that are guaranteed to us by the Constitutions. Consider some of these items:
Education – tried to stop charitable tax credit for choice (not a voucher program); trying to implement Common Core, a watered-down, biased curriculum for the schools
Self-defense – attempt to repeal right of self-defense, ability to carry firearms, and put further restrictions on gun ownership
Taxes – increased the gasoline tax, cigarette tax, fuel oil tax, and is promoting an irresponsible budget based on as-of-yet illegal activities
Voter integrity – tried to eliminate voter ID requirements which might help to prevent the compromise of the voting system
Here is a clip of some of the speakers at our tax day rally courtesy of videographer Ed Comeau. We hope you’ll toss the propaganda from NH’s new bird cage liner and stand with us.
