Apparently we were right, she was wrong.
On October 15, 2009, on the floor of the US Senate, Senator Shaheen gave a speech in which she said,” Now, under the current legislation, everyone will have the freedom to keep their health care plan if they like it.”
As if this broken promise by Senator Shaheen wasn’t bad enough, in 2010 she voted with all of the other Senate Democrats to kill a Republican proposal that would have ensured that Americans who liked their plans could have kept their plans.
We have now learned that 22,000 New Hampshire residents have had their health insurance cancelled because of her broken promise. Nationwide this number is now over 4.2 million Americans. We are among them. Not only are we losing our plan, we are losing our doctors and our premiums are more than doubling.
If you have insurance through your employer you should know that you are next. In 2010 the Obama Administration, in the Federal Register, admitted that over 90 million Americans who have employer based insurance plans will also be losing their coverage.
Please call Senator Shaheen at 202 224-2841 and ask what action she intends to take to make right the effects of her broken promise.
