The State of the Con-Con in NH

While most people in the tea party understand the dangers of a Con Con few people have asked us why we are against an ‘Article V Convention’.

Why would we want something that the LEFT is pushing for?

Here are a few articles about the Left’s support of an Article V Convention.

The Left Needs a New Constitution and Here is How to Write It

Wolf Pac The Plan

These are the folks working with Liberal Harvard Professor Larry Lessig. It was Larry that hosted the 2011 Forum on the Con Con at Harvard. Larry got the Goldwater Institute and the Tea Party Patriots to support him also. (A GOP group that formed in 2009, not a legit tea party)

He also had the Far Left Common Cause and folks from Occupy Wall St.

Several years ago, citizens successfully got New Hampshire to rescind all of its calls for a Con Con.  Unfortunately, a new call was passed by the Republican majority.  But if a Con Con is held, not one Republican conservative from NH will be on hand.

Here is another link to an excellent short video on the subject:

Beware the Con Con

And here is a link to an article entitled Levin’s Risky Proposal

This week, tea party activists visited legislators in Boston and Augusta to distribute reprints of the above linked article, and CDs of the above linked video. Over the next few weeks, we will do the same in Providence, Albany, and Montpelier. There are two pending resolutions in Massachusetts proposed by the far left Wolf PAC. In Maine, a left wing group called We the People, Maine are also pushing for an Article V convention and plan to put it on the ballot.

Sadly, New Hampshire already has a call for a Con Con. We finally got all of New Hampshire’s calls for a Con Con repealed after 20 years, and we beat back two attempts spearheaded by ALEC and NH Representative Jordan Ulery. After the Con men got it past the NH House, it went to the Senate where a committee determined that it was ITL which usually kills a resolution. But the Con men got busy, make phone calls and got it through the Senate. So, if the Con men are successful, NH will send delegates that share the views of far left NH Reps such as Steve Shurtleff.

In 1988, the US were two states away from a Con Con but due to some hard work and excellent information, we were able to stop it cold. We hope to do the same this time.
