Regionalism is Communism
Well-known and respected education activist and whistleblower Charlotte Iserbyt once warned that “regionalism is communism”.
For those who have seen firsthand the process by which HUD funds programs such as Granite State Future in every state in the nation there is no convincing that that it is indeed a top down regional program that seeks to change the way we use property, among other things, by interfering with local laws.
But do not make the mistake of thinking that regionalism only has to do with property rights…
Regionalism is about soviet style ‘councils’ that rule from the top down with no oversight.
The recent inquiry by the Massachusetts ACLU into the activities of SWAT teams across that state received an interesting response.
The Washington Post writes: “As it turns out, a number of SWAT teams in the Bay State are operated by what are called law enforcement councils, or LECs. These LECs are funded by several police agencies in a given geographic area and overseen by an executive board, which is usually made up of police chiefs from member police departments.”
Further, “Some of these LECs have also apparently incorporated as 501(c)(3) organizations. And it’s here that we run into problems. According to the ACLU, the LECs are claiming that the 501(c)(3) status means that they’re private corporations, not government agencies. And therefore, they say they’re immune from open records requests.”
The situation with these SWAT teams is a perfect example of the application of regionalism in yet another aspect of our lives. What happens when there is no transparency of the activities of law enforcement agencies? If there were ever a recipe for a rogue government run amok against its citizens, this is it.
