Today the Union Leader, a NH newspaper, came out against an Article V Convention.
Once in a while the editors hit the nail on the head.
This time they agree with the JBS, NHCCS, and the Tenth Amendment Center and scores of other Constitutional experts who advise against it, despite some groups who have aligned with Larry Lessig and other liberal groups to promote it.
“Delegates to the convention could write whatever amendments they wanted, and those amendments could then be submitted to the states for ratification together or individually. If not time-limited, they could be ratified at any time, even decades from now.
The last amendment, the 27th, was proposed as part of the Bill of Rights in 1789. It was ratified in 1992. No one can predict what the convention will produce or what the people would ratify.”
