SHEA-PORTER: OBAMACARE WILL “HURT MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES”
Shea-Porter Publicly Lashes Out At President’s Disastrous Health Care Plan
CONCORD – The New York Times (1/7) reports that Representative Carol Shea-Porter blasted President Obama’s health care plan in a conference call yesterday with members of the Obama Administration and the Democrat House Caucus. The Congresswoman “forcefully” stated that the tax increases in the President’s health care legislation will “hurt middle class families.”
“Representative Carol Shea-Porter, Democrat of New Hampshire, who spoke out forcefully [during the conference call] against the proposed excise tax, said afterward that it could hurt middle class families,” reports the Times (1/7).
“It’s obvious that Obamacare is a disaster when even a tax-and-spend liberal like Carol Shea-Porter admits that it will hurt middle class families. This legislation will raise taxes, bankrupt our country and do nothing to control skyrocketing health care costs,” said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. “It’s time for Paul Hodes, Carol Shea-Porter and Jeanne Shaheen to scrap this disastrous health care monstrosity and start over.”
Health Affairs Journal (1/7) reported that New Hampshire will be hit especially hard by the both the House and Senate versions of the health care legislation, naming the state as one of its “Health Care State Losers.”
“Among the states most likely to ‘lose’ are Delaware, Nebraska, and New Hampshire as well as the District of Columbia. Each of these states has a relatively lower-than-average proportion of uninsured residents, and each would fall in the ‘High Cost’ category under either of the financing options,” reports the publication.
