Great letter Sue!
March 16 — To the Editor:
The push to “fundamentally transform our country,” as President Barack Obama promised, is on. Unfortunately, the transformation will turn us into a European-style system — a system that doesn’t seem to be working for them but will somehow work for us.
Our legislators, Carol Shea-Porter and Jeanne Shaheen, are only too willing to overlook the will of their constituents in New Hampshire to accomplish Obama’s goal. And even though this ill-conceived bill is unconstitutional and neither one of them has read it, they are hell bent on pushing it through in response to pressure from their leadership in Congress.
The questions to ask Congresswoman Shea-Porter and Sen. Shaheen are: “Do you work for Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid or for the people of New Hampshire? Did you or did you not swear to uphold the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic?”
This health care bill will: Mandate that all Americans must purchase health insurance — unconstitutional. Mandate penalties for those who do not purchase insurance — unconstitutional. Mandate that all personal and health information will now be handled by the government — unconstitutional.
Why then, are our legislators supporting this bill? Has Washington changed them so much that they have forgotten about their responsibility to their constituents and even the Constitution? Since when do they view our Constitution as a stumbling block that must be circumvented to fulfill a social agenda?
Sen. Shaheen and Rep. Shea-Porter should remember this: We, the governed, will have the final say on who governs us. Supporting this health care bill as it now stands will ensure that these legislators will be removed from office at the earliest possible opportunity.
