Rob Reiner Invokes Hitler

The tea party has no real leader. Rob Reiner (remember Meathead from Archie Bunker?) contends that if the tea party ever did get itself a charismatic leader, the fact that it ‘plays on fear’, and is directed against ‘a certain person’, means it would have all the elements that Hitler used.

However, Reiner ignores the fact that his description of what Hitler did could be better applied to what has been done to us already…

You figure that things like global warming and the ‘rich’ are the boogeymen, the fear is ‘if we don’t spend money, we’ll have a recession’, and Obama is the charismatic leader.

What Reiner misstates is, the tea party not only doesn’t have a ‘charismatic leader’, but its anger is not being directed at any one person. Instead, the anger is being directed at ‘big government’ and with good reason. The fact that the tea party has no leader and advocates for LESS government control, not more, makes it the opposite of anything that could be called Hitler-like.

Reiner needs to rethink what he said.
