Mitt Romney

IMPORTANT NOTE: All posts about prominent figures reflect facts gleaned for informational purposes only and will be updated as further information is found. They are not to be construed as anything other than each person’s history as it pertains to issues that may be of importance to most tea partiers. IT IS NEVER TO BE CONSTRUED AS AN ATTACK or ENDORSEMENT either way. The NH Tea Party is a Coalition of 40+ new or long standing groups who retain their own group autonomy with regard to endorsements, raising money, etc but who have banded together to exchange info about events, and local, state and federal issues, and to support each other about same, and to show support for the ‘tea party movement’.

Yesterday at the annual meeting of the NH GOP, conservatives elected Jack Kimball, a tea partier, to be their new Chair by a vote of 222-199.

In what was widely panned as ‘too early’ of a straw poll, Mitt Romney came out on top with 35% of the vote. Keep in mind there were 199 people there who did NOT vote for Kimball, so this was a large portion of the small sampling of republicans present. The first true grassroots straw poll is traditionally held the second week of July by the Coalition of NH Taxpayers. It will be held again and in this case, the results will likely be more respected.

That said, here is why Mitt will never be the winner of anything in NH:

• As Governor of MA, Mitt Romney enthusiastically promoted, lobbied for, and proudly signed a big government health care bill into law (i.e. RomneyCare), which is very similar to ObamaCare. And after signing it into law, Mitt said that it would not have been possible without the help of Ted Kennedy.

• Massachusetts currently has the highest health care costs in the U.S., and those costs have been skyrocketing ever since Mitt signed RomneyCare into law in that state.

• Mitt supports the Clinton gun ban (semi-auto ban)

• As Governor, Mitt signed numerous tax increase bills into law, which he describes as “fee increases”.

• Mitt changed his position twice on abortion. And each time he changed his position, it just happened to be right before he was running for office in an area where his “new position” on that issue would increase his chances of getting elected (what some have described as “flip flopping”)

• While running for U.S. Senate, Mitt attended a Planned Parenthood fundraiser where his wife gave a $150 check to that organization.

• When gas prices skyrocketed to around $4 per gallon a few years ago, Governor Romney said he opposes suspending the gas tax because it would encourage people to drive their cars more often.

And here are some quotes from Mitt Romney:

• “I believe abortion should be safe and legal”

• Mitt told the Boston Herald: “My father and I marched with King”, and “I saw my father march with Martin Luther King”. After it was proven that what he said was NOT true, Romney defended those comments by arguing over the real definition of the word “saw”.

• “I was an independent during Reagan/Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan/Bush”

• “I’ve been a hunter pretty much all my life” (it was later proven that he had only gone hunting twice in his entire life)

• “I don’t line up with the NRA” (but then he signed up for a lifetime NRA membership while pondering a Presidential run)

• “I would have signed the assault weapons ban” (and last I heard, he still supports it today)

• In 2005, Mitt said that John McCain’s amnesty bill for illegal immigrants, was “reasonable”, but now he claims to be against that same exact bill.

• In 1993, another Republican, William Weld, signed into MA law the Education Reform Act of 1993. This was an outcome-based education plan and required heavy ‘retraining’ of teachers which was merely the most massive indoctrination of teachers ever seen before. Some teachers in Mass were required to sign a contract that stated they would pledge to ‘teach the mission of world government’. It is still in effect including during the years 2003-2007 when Romney was Governor – never repealed.

• Romney said he supports the idea of anthropomorphic global warming. Most recently while in Manchester NH he said “I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that.”
